In Dead Rising 2: CASE ZERO, just like the full game, Chuck will be able to use his handyman skills and a roll of duct tape to combine two items to create powerful combo weapons. With Katey needing a shot of Zombrex very soon, Chuck has no option but to search Still Creek’s zombie infested streets for the drug, and a way out of town. To make matters worse, someone steals Chuck’s truck so now they have no way to leave. But shortly after their arrival a containment zone is breached and the undead begin to shuffle into town. In need of fuel and looking to stock up on supplies, Chuck and Katey stop at the small desert town of Still Creek, where all initially seems as peaceful as its name suggests. Case Zero happens two years after the first Dead Rising game and three years before the events in DR2, chronicling Chuck’s desperate attempts to stop his daughter from becoming a zombie after being bitten in another outbreak. Out today exclusively for Xbox Live, the Case Zero prequel to Dead Rising 2 introduces players Chuck and his ailing daughter Katey. (More on Techland: Captivate 2010: Dead Rising 2 Doubles the Undead Destruction ) But, only fans with a Microsoft game console will be able to see what Chuck Greene’s weapon-building skills are all about.

I'm not going to say it is and what isn't in each game as far as the combo weapons, because we're leaving that for everyone to discover for themselves later on, but I will say that people will be satisfied, there'll be some cool stuff in Case Zero.Follow little less than a month to go until Capcom’s zombie apocalypse sequel comes to PS3 and Xbox 360. Wes: So the combo weapon system is in place in Case Zero, so you'll get some practice you get to learn about the system, experiment. There's a cap - and we're not going to say exactly what that cap is at this point - but there will be things in general that will carry over to the main game, so you'll want to play Case Zero.ĪG: So there are no special weapons you can only create in Case Zero you could carry over to Dead Rising 2? Wes: It actually will translate to Dead Rising 2, but only to a point. Wes: Well I guess Dead Rising is sort of what you make of it, because obviously you can run around the world and have fun with everything there, but it's definitely more substantial than just a couple of hours.ĪG: And so anyone who gets Case Zero anything they do in the game, will that translate then on Xbox 360 to the final retail copy of Dead Rising 2? Wes: Case Zero will be co-op friendly, yes.ĪG: What sort of play-length are we talking about? You were saying that it's a short prologue to the main story are we talking a couple of hours or maybe a bit longer?

A lot of demos just take a chunk of the original game and put it out there early and for free or whatever, this is actually a whole story on its own and is different to Dead Rising 2 - so none of this content is actually in Dead Rising 2 so you essentially get a small portion of Dead Rising 2, but a game in itself, on Xbox Live before the game is released. Wes: Well we sort of always had the plan to do something like this. So Xbox 360 Dead Rising fans will have a chance to get a taste of the game before anybody else, because it's exclusive to that platform.ĪG: So how did this come about? Was it a case of instead of just dropping a demo, which doesn't always offer very much, wanting to just make something more out the game? Or was there always a plan to drop prologue? Wes: Well what I would say is the great thing about Case Zero is that it will hit before Dead Rising 2 comes out. Wes Philips: That's right, so only Xbox 360 owners will be able to play Case Zero.ĪG: And so what's special about Case Zero? Obviously everyone can play Dead Rising 2, but if you're a big enough fan of the series, what are you going to get out of the prologue beyond a bit of extra story?
